Dental Bridges

It is important to restore any missing teeth to stop the development of speech difficulties, problems eating and tooth drift. Gaps between the teeth can greatly affect the appearance of your smile and cause a decline in self-esteem. Dental bridges restore missing teeth and reinstate the health, strength and appearance of your smile.

There are different types of bridges including those which use two natural teeth for support, those which use one natural tooth and those most suited for replacing front teeth. Dental bridges can also be used in combination with dental implants for added stability. During your initial consultation we will discuss the best option for your needs and requirements.

Fitting a Dental Bridge

You will need at least two visits to fit a dental bridge.

  1. The first will involve treating the surrounding teeth to make them suitable for supporting the bridge. This usually involves tooth etching or shaving, after which impressions will be taken of the treated teeth.
  2. These impressions are sent to a dental lab to be custom-made as per your size, shape and shade requirements. While you wait for your new bridge a temporary one will be fitted to protect your teeth and gums.
  3. After your bridge has been sent back to us we will ask you to return to the practice for the fitting of your new dental bridge. We will ensure your permanent bridge fits perfectly and that you are happy with its colour, appearance and fit.

“a real joy to come and see them!”
