The Making of a Dental Nurse: Ana’s Inspiring Journey

My Journey to Becoming a Dental Nurse

When I first joined Dental Studio in September 2024 as a receptionist, I never imagined how much this role would shape my future. From day one, I felt that Dental Studio was committed to ensuring its staff had the best knowledge possible to provide top-tier care for our patients. That commitment sparked something in me that I hadn’t fully realized before—a desire to be more deeply involved in patient care.

A Life-Changing Opportunity

Working alongside the incredible Dr. Usha Ramjas, I was introduced to an Invisalign course in London. This experience was a turning point for me, completely reshaping how I viewed my career path. I had always known I wanted to do something meaningful, something that allowed me to help others during their most vulnerable moments. What better environment to do that than a dental surgery?

A New Year, A New Path

At the start of 2025, as part of my New Year’s resolutions, I made the decision to pursue a career as a dental nurse. From the moment I shared my goal, Dr. Usha Ramjas and the entire Dental Studio team became my greatest support system. Their encouragement gave me the confidence to take this leap, and I soon started an apprenticeship with Chichester College.

This journey is an 18-month process of gaining both academic knowledge and hands-on experience, culminating in a Dental Nurse Level 3 Diploma. I’ve now been in surgery for two months, and it’s incredible how much I’ve already learned. It feels like I was always meant to do this.

The Reward of Patient Care

One of the most fulfilling parts of this role is supporting patients through their dental experiences. Many come in feeling anxious, fearful, or unsure, and being able to help them relax and feel cared for makes my work so rewarding. Listening to their life stories, seeing their fragile moments, and watching their transformation as they leave the surgery with joy and confidence—these moments are beyond words.

Looking Toward the Future

Once I’ve completed my qualification, I want to explore specialized areas such as treatment coordination and smile advisory. However, my long-term dream is even bigger—I hope to take my skills beyond the clinic and embark on a mission to provide dental care to underserved regions. Places in Africa, Asia, and South America need access to essential dental services, and I want to be part of the effort to bring smiles and relief to those who need it most.

This journey has already been life-changing, and I know that every new experience will continue to shape my path. I can’t wait to see where this incredible career takes me next.
